Ten residents of Fairvern Nursing Home have been recognized for their volunteer services at the home.
At a recognition party in Fairvern’s activity centre last week, residents and family members enjoyed an afternoon of music, presentations and ice cream sundaes.
The residents were recognized for a variety of volunteer services, said Wendy Earl, Fairvern’s life enrichment co-ordinator. “Some of the volunteer work they do is helping out during music programs, handing out song books, clearing tables in the dining room, decorating, arranging flowers in the activity department, assisting residents to and from the dining room and helping out wherever they are needed.”
The staff at Fairvern nominated Thomas Keefe for the Ontario Long Term Care Lifetime Achievement (OLTCA) certificate.
“The OLTCA recognizes the many outstanding achievements of residents across the province and we are pleased to honour Thomas with this award,” said Earl.
“Thomas is busy all day assisting in the dietary department, activation department and wherever else he may be needed. Thomas was very excited to receive this award, which is now hanging proudly in his bedroom for all to see.”
Continued Earl: “Thomas’ best friend Dr. Bastedo shook his hand to congratulate him on receiving the award and Thomas said, ‘I did well, didn’t I?’ We are very proud of Thomas and all the resident volunteers who enjoy helping out and making a difference in the home.”
