I am a student at Huntsville Public School. We are having issues with people bringing their dogs to poop on our school yard at night. It’s disgusting. Each morning when we come to school, there are piles of poop on our lawn that we have to step around. We find this appalling and would really like it to stop.
We have problems with this because it is really not that fun to play in the field when there is poop all over it. When we want to play tag or football we have to be looking where we’re going so we don’t step in dog poop. When we are playing, it isn’t convenient to have to look at the ground all the time when the rest of the scenery is so beautiful.
Also, it stinks really badly. When we walk around the yard it stinks, especially after it rains or is really hot. When we walk around it is very unpleasant to be constantly stepping in dog poop. It gets all over our shoes and clothes. A lot of us do not have time to go home and change.
The custodians find this annoying, because they are the ones that have to clean it up. I don’t think that cleaning up dog poop is part of their job, which means that they have to do extra work. Cleaning up dog poop is not a very pleasant job.
This is also not so great for the community, because when a kid comes to play in the field at night, they have to be watching where they’re stepping. Or when an adult comes with their dog (one who does not let their dog poop on our lawn) the poop may agitate their dog, and the dog (or human) might step in the poop. Poop on the lawn is embarrassing when the school has fundraisers or concerts outside.
Pet owners need to be responsible and control their pets, and clean up after them. It isn’t responsible to leave your dog’s poop on the ground. It is an inconvenience to us and the rest of the town. Janitors, teachers, students and the rest of the community find this disgusting and lazy. Please clean up after your pets!
