There will be a special euchre party at the Lakeview Seniors’ Hall next Tuesday, April 29 beginning at 7 p.m. There will be prizes and refreshments. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the victims of the Rowanwood fire.
Just a reminder that the meeting of the Dwight Winter Carnival committee will be in the library tonight beginning at 6:30 p.m. Anyone who is interested in helping with next year’s carnival is encouraged to attend.
A healing circle will begin at the community centre on Thursday, April 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. This is an open, casual event with a safe, supportive environment for anyone who is experiencing difficulties in their life. For further information call Big John at 635-2431 or e-mail bigjohn@vianet.ca.
A new session of aerobics has begun at the community centre and will continue every Monday and Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
There will be a Bluegrass music event at the community centre this Friday, April 25 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Featured bands will be HoneyGrass, Traditionally Wound, and an American band called the Doerfel Family. Tickets for this event are $18 in advance or $20 at the door. They can be obtained from Karen Snell at 788-4362 or Art Groomes at 789-9201.
The post office requires a groundskeeper to cut the grass and water the gardens for the next five months. Call Barbara at 635-1350 for more information.
Since all the United Churches are now open, here are the times of the Sunday services: Knox United, Dorset, 9 a.m., Stewart Memorial, Dwight, 10:15 a.m. and Pioneer Memorial, Hillside at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Lions Club would like to thank everyone who attended the turkey dinner last Saturday. The president John Gibson presented a $1,000 donation to the Canadian Cancer Society and a $1,000 donation to Daffodil Terrace, the lodge in Sudbury where patients can stay during the week while receiving treatments. I would like to thank all the Lions Club members and their families who worked so hard to make this evening a success.
Many happy returns to Jean Farnsworth and my granddaughter Olivia who is 10 years old this week.
