The Dorset Recreation Centre has a summer employment opportunity for the Dorset day camp program. Day camp runs for nine weeks in the summer, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is a great job for students interested in working with children.
The Dorset Tower has a spring, summer and fall employment opportunity to work in the Dorset kiosk.
If you are interested in a day camp or tower position, please forward your resume to the recreation centre by April 30. While the recreation centre appreciates all submissions, only those being interviewed will be contacted.
The spring session of Tai Chi at the Dorset Recreation Centre has begun. Beginners are welcome. Tai Chi takes place on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. For more information contact the recreation centre at 766-9968.
Dorset Pitch-In Day takes place on Saturday, May 3, meeting at the Dorset Recreation Centre for litter cleanup supplies at 10 a.m. This is a great opportunity to help tidy up the village in this popular litter-cleanup community activity. The District 11 Haliburton, Muskoka Senior Games take place between May 5 and June 19 with lots of different activities and locations through out Haliburton and Muskoka.
The games, such as swimming, cards, bowling, darts, shuffleboard, golf, tennis and more are open to seniors ages 55 and over as of Dec. 31. For more information contact Robert McIvor at 754-9747.
There will be a bead class at the Dorset Recreation Centre on Wednesday, May 14 at 7 p.m. with Marlene Karys of Big Bead in Huntsville. To find out more or to register call the recreation centre at 766-9968.
The Dorset book club meets at the Dorset library on Wednesday, May 7 at 1 p.m. to talk about any Giller prize-nominated book (your choice). All are welcome to join the discussion.
