Mark Saturday, May 10 on your calendar and take part in an incredible ATV adventure of a lifetime, raising funds and awareness for male breast cancer.
On that day, Four Wheelin’ Women will host its eighth annual ATV charity ride for male breast cancer awareness. After losing her father, Hans Sauer, to breast cancer in 1998, Nancy Ord, the founder of the Four Wheelin’ Women, wanted do something in memory of her dad. She also wanted to educate the public that breast cancer is not gender specific, as most people seem to think.
The inaugural ride took place in Elliot Lake in 2001. Eighteen women took to the trails for a day filled with adventure and camaraderie and raised over $3,500 for the Sudbury Cancer Centre.
The seventh annual event last year saw 157 participants and over $18,000 donated to the mammography unit at Barrie’s Royal Victoria Hospital.
This eighth annual ride is sure to be the biggest and best to date. The Maitland ATV Club is excited to be the hosts for this year’s event and have guaranteed a fabulous day of ATV trail riding and camaraderie. Deer Park Lodge and Bayfield Village Inn, in the picturesque community of Bayfield, are the hosts for overnight accommodations. Participation response has been fantastic with the anticipation growing for this exciting event.
