Legion News

On April 11 and 12 the Huntsville Legion was the site of the 15th annual members’ in-house snooker tournament sponsored by Paul Jamison, Ron Waines and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 232. This year’s winners were Ernie MacDonald and Joe Hamilton. Don Rogers and Larry Rosebrugh were second, followed by Tom Searle and Ron Waines in third spot.

Bid euchre is played in the lounge each Monday evening and everyone is welcome to join in. Winners this week were Donna Hainer, first; Edith Wainwright, second; Sharon Panton, third. Pool is played on Tuesday evenings and there is shuffleboard Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Dancing in the lounge returns on Friday, May 2 with Double Take playing from 8 p.m. to midnight for your dancing and listening pleasure. Shine up those dancing shoes and we’ll see you there.

The entire community is welcome at the delicious meals served weekly at Branch 232. The $4 Friday lunch, served 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., on April 18 will offer a choice of a cheeseburger or an egg salad sandwich, with soup or fries. The next $6 Tuesday night dinner and dessert, served 5 to 6:30 p.m. on April 22 will feature pork chops.

The next general meeting of the branch will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 21. Nominations for the 2008-2009 branch officers and executive committee is on the agenda. All members are invited and encouraged to attend.

Have a great week and see you around the branch.
