Dinner to help fight cancer

The Dwight Lions Club invites eveyone to attend their annual turkey dinner at the community centre this Saturday, April 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. The desserts are homemade pies donated by the Dwight Women’s Institute. Dinner is $13 for adults and $6 for children. All proceeds from this dinner will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.

There will be an Ayurvedic cooking class at the community centre on Wednesday, April 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. Spend an evening with Allie Chisholm-Smith, who is studying Ayurvidic medicine, and Jocelyn Smith who is a healthy cooking classes teacher. You will eat delicious cleansing, nutritious Ayurvedic food, get recipes and great tools to lead a healthier life nutritiously. The cost is $25. Call the library at 635-3319 to register.

 A healing circle will begin at the community centre on Thursday, April 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. This is an open, casual event with a safe, supportive environment for anyone who is experiencing difficulties in their life. There will be a bluegrass music event at the community centre on the evening of Friday, April 25. Featured bands will be Honey Grass, Traditionally Wound, and an American band called the Doerfel Family. Tickets for this event are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. They can be obtained from Karen Snell at 788-4362 or Art Groomes at 789-9201.

There are still a few openings for the photography workshop “Learning to download/transfer images from your digital camera to your computer” to be held at the library on Thursday, May 1 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $25. Register at the library.

The Dwight seniors would like to thank everyone who attended the euchre games last Tuesday evening. The event brought in $362 for the Canadian Cancer Society. Many thanks also to those who donated the refreshments and the prizes.

Thursday night bid euchre results: women’s first, Bertha Aube; second, Judi Hodge; men’s first, George Gregory; second, Edith Wainwright; hidden score, Ed Myers; 50/50 draw, Al McMullen and Dennis Hopper.
