April 19
• The Muskoka Parry Sound Genealogy Group is meeting from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Friends Room at the Huntsville Public Library. Librarian Judy Ruan will speak on the topic “Discover the Hidden Internet for Effective Genealogy Searches.”
• The Dwight Lions Club turkey dinner to aid the Canadian Cancer Society will be held at the Dwight Community Centre from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost is $13 for adults and $6 for children. Homemade desserts donated by the Dwight Women’s Institute.
April 19 and 20
• The Windermere and District Lions Club hosts the 35th annual Pancake Social from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bill Veitch’s sugar bush on Doherty Road (off Muskoka Road 4.)
April 22
• The Huntsville Horticultural Society will hold its general meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Sutherland Hall located on High Street. Kathy Woods will give a presentation on the plants and gardens of Malaysia. All are welcome. Contact Jane at 789-0622 for more information.
April 23
• The Huntsville Hospital Auxiliary’s Spring Card Party is being held. Dessert served at 6:30 with bridge and euchre beginning at 7 p.m in the cafeteria and board room. Tickets are $7 at the Hospital Gift Shop or call Irene at 788-2618 or Helen at 789-3222.
April 24
• The Muskoka-Parry Sound Master Gardeners invite the public to attend a presentation at the Rene M. Caisse Memorial Theatre in Bracebridge at 7:30 p.m. featuring guest speaker Frank Kershaw. He will speak about accessorizing your garden. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at Muskoka Natural Food Market in Bracebridge, Treasures and Trophies in Huntsville or at the theatre box office.
April 26
• The Animal Shelter for Huntsville hosts its annual dinner/auction fundraiser at the Huntsville legion. Doors open at 5, with dinner served at 6 and the auction beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and are available at the animal shelter, Pet Valu, Huntsville Animal Hospital, The Framing Place, Treasures and Trophies and other local businesses.
May 3
• Pine Glen Public School hosts its second annual Kids’ Clothing and Toy Sale from 8 to 11 a.m. Those who are interested in renting a table can contact Pine Glen at 789-4791.
