Huntsville residents were treated to a glorious evening of gospel music on Friday by the combined choirs of the Huntsville Community Choir under the direction of Sherisse Stevens, and the Almaguin Choral Society under the leadership of Gloria Kidd, former director of the Huntsville choir. It was presented in our beautiful Algonquin Theatre, with the combined choir numbering almost 100 voices.
It was an exciting and uplifting evening, definitely one of their best efforts. The concert was so enjoyable that it was hard to choose any one piece as outstanding. However, of special mention is the Prayer for Africa sung in the African language, River in Judea, and Sherisse’s solo, a rip-rousing piece called Death Came A-Knockin’. She gave it her all and nearly brought the house down!
Congratulations and a huge thank you to all the participants.
