The death occurred of George Leslie Wilson, 70, on Feb. 29, 2008 at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital.

The deceased was born on Oct. 16, 1937, the son of Margaret and Edwin Wilson (both deceased).

He married Fern (Kirbyson) on April 16, 1960 in Ufford, Ontario.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his children Mac (fiancée Heather) of Bracebridge,

Greg (Cecile) of Utterson, Sandi (Paul) Evans of Orillia and Laurie (Rob) McLean of Port Sydney.

Also survived by grandchildren Noah, Abigail, Jacob, Amos, Esther, Naomi, Dan, Paul, Toni and Tasha Evans, sisters Frances Stapleton, Lillian Kirbyson, Margaret Kennedy, Cathy Wilson and brothers Bob and Fred.

Mr. Wilson was a body and fender mechanic. He was a fireman for over 30 years with Huntsville Station 3. Last elected the “Old Grouch” of Port Sydney, he had a great sense of humour.

Mr. Wilson enjoyed having family and friends around him. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbour, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Viewing was held at Mitchell Funeral Home in Huntsville, followed by a memorial service at Knox United Church, Port Sydney, conducted by Pastor Sue Wood on March 4, 2008. Spring burial at Ufford Cemetery.
