Wally Schamehorn, a longtime resident of Novar, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2008 in his 87th year at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie.

He was predeceased by his wife Hazel, brother Howard and sister Elsie. Much-loved father of Merlin (Armand) Hough, Wayne Schamehorn, Sharon (Les) Rowley.

Cherished grandpa of Lee-Anne (Sean) Murphy, Chris Rowley and his fiancée Alyssa, Shelly (Brian) Desjardins and Kevin (Heather) Hough. Adored Big Poppy of Tyler, Brody, Kaila, Jordan and Erika.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Mitchell’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Reverend Nina Fulford. Spring interment will be in the United Church Cemetery, Novar.

Wally had worked for the CNR for 37 years as a sectionman and foreman, and has enjoyed retirement for 31 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and doing many volunteer jobs. He enjoyed life to the fullest, and his kindness, jokes and sense of humour will be missed, but not forgotten.
