Members from Branch 232 attended the District E spring convention hosted by Branch 34, Orillia on March 28, 29 and 30. They were joined by delegates from throughout the district, which stretches south from Huntsville to Hwy. 401 and west to the shores of Georgian Bay.

The Legionnaire of the Year award, presented to one member from the district each year for service above and beyond, was won by comrade Gord Milburn of Huntsville.

Bid euchre is played in the lounge each Monday evening and everyone is welcome to join in. Winners last week were: Flo Feldman, first; May Maillett, second; Edith Wainwright, third. This week it was Bruce Battram followed by May Maillet and Don Woolman. Pool is played on Tuesday evenings and there is shuffleboard on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The entire community is welcome at the delicious meals served weekly at Branch 232. The $4 Friday lunch, served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 11, will offer a choice of chili and garlic bread or a grilled cheese sandwich with soup or fries. The next $6 Tuesday night dinner and dessert, served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on April 15, will feature meatloaf. Thanks so much to Eileen McFadyen, who utilized her baking skills in the production of the pies we all enjoyed so much at last week’s dinner.

The next general meeting of the branch will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 21. Nominations for the 2008-2009 branch officers and executive committee is on the agenda. All members are invited and encouraged to attend.

Have a great week and see you around the branch.
