Dwight News

The book club will meet at the library next Tuesday, April 15 at 1:30 p.m. The book to be discussed is The Girls by Lori Lansens. Get a head start on next month’s selection which is All That Matters by Wayson Choy. Everyone is welcome at the book club.

The Dwight Lions Club invite you to their annual turkey dinner at the community centre on Saturday, April 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be home-made pie donated by the Dwight Women’s Institute. Dinner is $13 for adults and $6 for children. All proceeds from this dinner will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. Remember, all money collected in our area stays in our area.

The Lions Club would like to thank everyone who has been donating their beer, liquor and wine bottles to the shed at the dump. Due to the melting snow, this has been rather messy. Thanks to a load of gravel donated by Barnhart Sand and Gravel, it is now possible to get into the shed without getting muddy.

A healing circle will begin at the community centre on Thursday, April 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. This is an open, casual event with a safe, supportive environment for anyone who is experiencing difficulties in their life. You may find comfort in this circle. For further information or to register call Big John at 635-2431 or e-mail bigjohn@vianet. ca.

The workshop to learn how to use your digital camera is now full, but the second one, learning to download/transfer images from the camera to your computer, still has some openings.

It will be held at the library on Thursday, May 1 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $25. Call the library to register.

Many happy returns to Rocky Clark and Emma Grace Magee. Belated birthday wishes to Ray Blake.

We wish Brian Tapley a speedy recovery and hope he can return home soon. Get well wishes to Jean Gibson, who is recovering from a broken ankle.

Thursday night bid euchre results: women’s first, Isabel Coulter; second, Sharon Panton; men’s first, Fran Gower; second, Aubrey Cotton; hidden score, Edith Wainwright; 50/50 draw, Al McMullen and Lil Millar.
