The very popular “Evening of Words, Music, Art and Wine takes place at the Dorset Recreation Centre this Friday, April 11. The art, book and CD walkabout starts at 6:30 p.m. and readings and music start at 7 p.m.

This is a wonderful evening featuring local writers, artists and musicians, up close and personal. Muskoka Lakes Winery will be showcasing their unique wines and refreshments will be provided by Robinson’s General Store.

There are 10 artists, six writers and three musicians from our area participating in this not-to-be-missed event. Come and see the art, listen to stories and music and take the opportunity to talk to the artists, writers and musicians. There will be opportunities to purchase art, books and CDs and to get them personally signed.

Tickets are $6 and limited to adults 19 years of age and over. You can reserve your ticket by calling the recreation centre at 766-9968 or by stopping in.

The Dorset Recreation Centre now has both summer and permanent employment opportunities and you have until the end of this week to get your resumes in.

One position available is a permanent, part-time recreation attendant to work Saturdays and call in to cover vacations. This position begins Saturday, June 14.

Other positions available include the summer Dorset day camp staff.

Day camp runs for nine weeks in the summer, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is a great job for students interested in working with children.
