For Carrie Miller, it was a perfect arrangement.
Taking her love for children along with shopping for kids’ clothing and combining these aspects with a long-time notion for a clothing store helped create a new enterprise in Huntsville’s downtown, 4 Muskoka Kids.
Miller, who is on leave from her job as a teacher at M.A. Wittick Public School in Burk’s Falls to care for her two-year-old daughter, has had the idea for the store for years now. She has decided to take the plunge and move forward with her plans for a store.
“There is a definite need for children’s clothing and shoes in Huntsville and the surrounding areas,” the mother of four said. “4 Muskoka Kids is for the parent or grandparent who is looking for quality children’s clothing, shoes and gifts that are both unique and stylish.”
The new store, located at 3-3 Brunel Road, stocks clothing, shoes, gifts and accessories at a variety of price points for babies and children of all ages.
“I really love shopping for kids’ clothes so I thought it would be a fun environment to work in. I also thought this store would be a nice addition to the community.”
To celebrate its opening, 4 Muskoka Kids hosted a “save the tax” on everything in the store all day last Saturday. Miller said the response from the public was overwhelming.
Visitors to the store will have a chance to select from more than 30 distinctive lines of clothing and shoes. Clothing lines available include Baby’s Own, Billy & Elli, Blu, Deux par Deux, Kooshies, Krickets, Mexx, Petite Lem, Point Zero and Timberland. Shoe lines include Hush Puppies, Keen and Skechers. The store also has baby items including picture frames, plush toys, blankets and photo albums.
Open seven days a week, 4 Muskoka Kids can be found next to Pinestead, across from Soapstones and is open Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
