Anne MacDonald passed away peacefully in her 96th year on Feb. 29, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband Neil and children Bill and Betty Ann.
Anne is survived by her daughter-in-law Verta MacDonald and son-in-law Alan Patterson. Anne was the beloved grandmother of Rob (Roberta), Jill (Lennis), Peter (Sherry), Lesley (Tom), Patti (Scott) and Janet (Derek). She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law Chris MacDonald and Mona MacDonald.
Anne was born in Franklin Township in 1912 and raised on the family farm on Peninsula Lake. She was the fifth of nine children born to William and Elizabeth Ennest. Anne attended the Canal school and later Huntsville High School. She married Neil MacDonald in 1930 and they raised their two children in Huntsville.
Anne worked at the MacDonald family restaurant and then for many years was an assistant in the pharmacy at Campbell’s Drug Store. Anne was involved with many community organizations over the years. She was a long-time member of the Alter Guild at All Saints’ Anglican Church. She also enjoyed the car club, curling and Club 55, where she excelled at darts and painting. Anne was a chartered member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the legion, a member of Friends of Fairvern and the Sunshine Group at All Saints.
Anne was known for her dedication to family and friends, her quick wit and strong community and family values. A true lady, she will be sadly missed.
A funeral service will be conducted by the Venerable Reverend Dawn Henderson on Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at All Saints’ Anglican Church. Visitation at Billingsley’s Funeral Home the evening of Friday, April 25 from 7 to 9 p.m.
