Don’t miss chamber music concert of the season
Apr 02, 2008

On Saturday, April 12 at 8 p.m., the Huntsville Association for the Performing Arts (HAPA) is presenting its fourth chamber music concert of the season.

Described as the heir to Joe Venuti, jazz violinist Lenny Solomon’s virtuosity has thrilled audiences throughout the world.

In the ’70s he was part of the Juno award-winning duo Myles and Lenny and during the ’80s, he was a founding member of the pop string ensemble Quintessence.

At that time he met guitar player Bill Bridges who, along with Lew Mele, concert bass, are the other members of this amazing jazz trio.

Solomon has been a highly respected studio musician, having recorded with luminaries such as Peter Appleyard, Guido Basso, Nigel Kennedy, Liza Minelli and Anne Murray.

His fascination with George Gershwin resulted in his second very popular CD The Gershwin Sessions.

He was chosen violinist of the year at the Jazz Report Awards three years in a row. Solomon founded several top recording and touring shows, including the international smash hit BOWFIRE, The Total Violin Experience.

The concert, held at Trinity United Church, will also be the sign-up time for HAPA’s 28th season, 2008-2009.

Single tickets for adults, $25, and youth, $10, are available at the door, or at Hampton Lane Menswear at Huntsville Place Mall.

HAPA would like to thank the sponsors for this concert: Homelife Muskoka Ltd., Motel 6, Muskoka Hearing Aids, Northern Import Auto Supply, and Trillium Jazz.
