Government’s intention to increase dependence on nuclear power is insane
Mar 26, 2008

Dear Mr. McGuinty:

The more I read about your government’s intention to expand our dependence on nuclear power generation, the more I realize you’re really no different from Bill Davis or Mike Harris.

Ontario’s future, Canada’s future, planet Earth’s future, depends on our ability to recognize electrical power generation must come from renewable resources or we perish by our own clever mega-polluting device(s).

If we’ve concluded it’s bad to asphyxiate the atmosphere by burning carbon to attain power generation, try and imagine, if that’s possible, what a radioactive planet will be like. Cancers. Mutants. Apocalypse.

Nuclear power is the single most lethal technology we’ve created. Whether it turns up as depleted uranium in ammunition or containment reactors like Chernobyl (and innumerable abandoned nuclear submarines) or abandoned nuclear waste or monitored nuclear waste, the idea of expanding our dependence on this technology that is neither cheap, nor safe nor clean is simply insane. Is this what you offer your progeny’s progeny?

Please read Dr. Rosalie Bertell’s No Immediate Danger before you sign away what hope exists today.
