GOOD TRADE: In the late 1800s, Os-Ke-Non-Ton (Running Deer), also known as Louie Deer, worked as a guide to the fledgling tourism industry on Trading Lake. Around 1913, Oskenonton’s singing talent was discovered by a visitor, and he went on to a distinguished international musical career as an entertainer. Trading Lake is now known as Lake of Bays.

The Huntsville Board of Trade was started in 1898 “to promote tourism and attract new industry.” Today, this vital role is fulfilled by the Huntsville and Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce.

This Thursday evening, March 27, 2008, the Huntsville and Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce will recognize businesses “which contribute significantly to the quality of life in the  Huntsville and Lake of Bays areas” at their 5th annual Bell Business Excellence Awards. Tickets are available at the Algonquin Theatre box office, 789-4975.

Excellence. Trade. Tourism. Quality of life.

Entertainment. Good trade.
