Huntsville Forester
Top anglers to speak at Bass Talk session
Mar 26, 2008

Some of the country’s top professional anglers will be in Huntsville this Saturday to pass on their knowledge to area fishermen.

Bass Talk 2008 will be making its second straight appearance in town when Ward Edmonds GM hosts the lecture tour, starting at 7 a.m.

The day-long talk features six of the best anglers in Canada today, including Garrett Green, a member of the Muskoka Bassmasters team.

Green has been tournament fishing for over 25 years. His accomplishments include the triple crown of Ontario competitions as winner of a major walleye, pike and bass tournament in the same year. “Although I’ve had many tournament victories, my proudest accomplishment is being a three-time Ontario Bass Federation Contender at the national championship in the U.S. If I make it again, I hope the Bassmasters Classic will follow.”

Also speaking at Saturday’s lecture are:

Doug Brownridge – The 2005 Canadian Fishing Tour (CFT) angler of the year’s credentials are lengthy and he is always a threat to win no matter where the tournament is being held. Although he prefers to throw a jig and pig whenever possible, he has, over the years, become a complete angler. His consistency and attention to detail only make him more dangerous on the water. In 2007 he teamed with Mike DesForges to win the season-opening Casey Cup.

John Noel  – Noel arrived on the Ontario tournament scene in 2005 from Quebec and has steadily moved up the ranks. Finishing third in the CFT Super Series angler of the year race, Noel has served notice that he is here to stay amongst Canada’s elite bass anglers. His resume boasts a couple of Quebec BassMasters team of the year titles and numerous tournament victories.

Barry Graves – He is widely regarded as one of the top new hot young guns on the Canadian tournament scene. His already-impressive resume boasts over 10 tournament wins. In his short tenure he has amassed titles including the 2002 Competitive Sport Fishing League’s All-Canadian angler of the year, the 2004 Bassmania Classic Champions and two Bassmania team of the year titles.

Jimmy Dodd – Dodd and his partner Chris Giles have steadily grown into one of the most fearsome tandems on the Ontario tournament fishing scene. Whether you are fishing in the Kawarthas or up here, he is sure to provide you with valuable tips to help you catch bigger fish.

Rob Hyatt – His fishing success in the near north is legendary. He has numerous accomplishments in his tournament career including being a former Ontario Bass Fishing divisional representative, the inaugural Nipissing Open Champion and a Northeastern Ontario classic champion.

The cost of the day is $75 per person or $30 for youth ages 14 years and under.
