I would like to add my voice to the chorus of others opposed to the notion that rural and waterfront home owners ought to share the costs associated with water and sewer services we don’t receive.
If it is in fact a fair proposition, would it not also then be fair for rural and waterfront home owners to be compensated for the thousands of dollars already spent to install water filtration systems and environmentally friendly septic systems? Should we not also be compensated for the regular maintenance costs to ensure our systems are functioning properly? Our taxes also support services we don’t receive. Where is the fairness?
Imposing a tax on all persons peeing on the side of the road would make more sense.
