Dwight News

Easter services for the Lake of Bays charge are as follows: Good Friday, 10 a.m. at Pioneer Memorial, Hillside; Easter sunrise, 7 a.m. at Dorset Lakeside Parkette with pancake breakfast to follow at Knox United Church, Dorset; Easter Sunday services, 9:30 a.m. at Knox United, and 11 a.m. at Pioneer Memorial, Hillside. Everyone is welcome.

There will be a Dwight Carnival wrap-up meeting at Nor’Loch Resort tonight, Wednesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. All organizers and volunteers are encouraged to attend this wine and cheese get together.

The next session of aerobics begins today at the community centre and will continue every Monday and Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $40 per person for eight classes.

The library will be closed Friday and Saturday for Easter.

Our library has been nominated for a business excellence award by the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce. There should be information in this week’s paper telling you how and when you can vote. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone knew just how wonderful our small library is and how lucky we are to have it here in Dwight?

April is Cancer Month. Fresh daffodils will be available at the library. Come in and order your bunch and help the Canadian Cancer Society.

The annual euchre games to aid the Cancer Society will be held at the Lakeview Seniors’ hall on Tuesday, April 8 beginning at 7 p.m. There will be refreshments and prizes. Admission is $5.

The Dwight Lions club will host their annual turkey dinner at the community centre on Saturday, April 19 from 5 to 7 p.m.

There will be homemade pie for dessert donated by the Dwight Women’s Institute. All proceeds from this dinner will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.

If you have a digital camera do you know what all the buttons mean? Debbie Bradley will give a workshop at the library called Learning to Use your Compact Digital Camera on Tuesday, April 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Digital cameras are great but a lot of us don’t know what to do once the pictures are in the camera. A follow-up workshop called Learning to Download/transfer Images from the Camera to your Computer will be held on Thursday, May 1. It may seem early to advertise these classes but they are bound to fill up fast.

The cost is $25 per person for each class. Register now at the library.
