Coming through: Leigh Cameron of the Hidden Valley Ski Club nears the end of the red course of the dual slalom during the Miele J Alpine all-star racing series on Saturday.

The Hidden Valley Ski Club had five racers participate in the Miele J Alpine all-star racing series on Saturday Mar. 8.

There were 36 female and 40 male participants representing the top racers from each club in the southern Ontario Division. The day consisted of a giant slalom race in the morning and a dual pannelled slalom in the afternoon. The blowing snow often compromised the racers’ visibility.

Kelly Harper was Hidden Valley’s sole female participant. She ended her racing season with great results. She was eighth in the giant slalom and fourth in the dual slalom despite losing a pole at the top third of the course on her second run of the slalom.

Leigh Cameron, Michael Sinclair, and Kyle and Scott Litchfield were the four males racing for Hidden Valley. In the giant slalom, where the best-run time of two runs was used to determine the placings, Cameron was seventh, Kyle Litchfield  was 10th, Sinclair was 21st, and Scott Litchfield was 29th. Brothers Scott and Kyle were matched up for the dual slalom, which added some excitement for the Hidden Valley fans. Kyle edged out Scott in the first run, but Scott was faster in the second run and came out ahead of Kyle with a combined time that put him in 11th place. Kyle finished in 17th place.

Cameron and Sinclair had great times for their first runs, but unfortunately had falls on their second runs. Sinclair finished in 25th spot, while Cameron was unable to complete his second run.
