Huntsville Forester
BIA office is on the move

Our BIA office will be relocating over the next few weeks to TD Canada Trust (at 38 Main St. E.).

TD Canada Trust has offered us office space, rent-free, as part of their community service initiatives. A relocation date has not been finalized, but the move should be completed by early April.

Once the BIA office is fully relocated, you will be able to drop off items for the BIA whenever TD is open.

Several members stepped forward to form the shop downtown committee.

This committee will be a conduit to the board to help relieve their workload. But we can only be successful if we have your support. Please participate when and how you can.

We all have a business to run and none of us has any more time to devote to the BIA than anyone else. The ultimate goal is to increase the number of residents who ‘spend it downtown.”

The phrase ‘spend it downtown’ can apply to money, social time, art and culture, dining and employment. This committee is moving forward on several levels to accomplish its goal. We will be looking at the existing tools that are presently available and recommending new ideas to the board.

The success of the committee can only be assured by participation of all our members so please, when called upon, do what you can to help make downtown Huntsville the place to be.

We welcome any ideas or suggestions you may have, and to that end we have  put in place a special e-mail address spenditdowntown@Gmail.com.

I know we would all like to see the spring weather, but for now we have lots of white snow.

So if you love to be outside in the snow, come to downtown Huntsville, for there are lots of shops to keep you going with outdoor winter adventures.

You can get snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing equipment, clothing and more. Between trips to the slope, why not take a walking tour through the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery. Can you find all 21 murals?

If you need a break from the winter winds then come downtown for indoor activities galore.

Stop into Adventures in Glass for stained glass classes. Get those fingers knitting at SheepStrings. Make your own jewellery at the Big Bead or Sugarbeads. Paint your own pottery at The Finds. Put all those winter pictures together with style with some scrap booking at ABC Scrap with Me. Start painting with North Art Supplies. Learn to quilt with Gone Quilting. Classes await you, or simply gather the materials you need and retreat to the cottage or comfort of your living room and get your fingers moving.

Looking for something more active, but still indoors. Take a yoga class with Ahimsa or see what is happening at Motivations Fitness.

Or if you are looking to unwind, downtown still the place to be.  Catch a movie, take in a show at the Algonquin Theatre, relax at a pub or enjoy a restful dining experience. Why not reenergize your body and soul with a massage or spa treatment at one of our downtown salons?

Want to spice things up with a change of décor, wardrobe, or furniture? There are a number of delightful shopkeepers in downtown Huntsville ready to help with your selection.

Where it is winter, spring, summer or fall downtown Huntsville is exploding adventures, so come for a visit.
