Huntsville Nature Club

Even the most die-hard winter fans may agree this has felt like a long winter. But spring is just around the corner, really. If you need some inspiration for your spring gardening plans, you might want to join us at our next meeting. On Monday, Feb. 25, Rebecca Krawczyk, a specialist in environmental horticulture, will be speaking to the club on “Plants for Ecosystem Health.”

This talk will examine the key components of the urban and shoreline ecosystems that we, as landowners, should focus on. Rebecca will outline what we can do to positively influence the health of the natural systems in our back  yards. Photos of indigenous plant and wildflower species of the Lake of Bays and Huntsville area will be highlighted throughout the talk. Rebbeca promises the audience will “go home with a taste of the warm spring and summer to come.”

Rebbeca and her husband, Peter Buwalda, own and operate the BarK Nursery and Ecological Gardens. They specialize in highlighting and propagating local plant species which can also be found in their 18-acre interpretive botanical gardens.

The Huntsville Nature Club meets on the last Monday of every month at Club 55 in the town hall at 7 p.m. and guests are always welcome. For more information regarding the Huntsville Nature Club, contact Ken Morrison (789-1407) or Rick Stronks (635-3315).
