Emery Alonzo Hammond, peacefully at Penetanguishene General Hospital, with his family by his side on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008 at the age of 71. He was raised in Baysville and later moved to Prince George, B.C. where he loved to fish in the ocean. He returned to Ontario and resided in Victoria Harbour.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Karen (nee Oke) of 46 and a half years.
He also leaves his loving son Kevin and his partner Sandra Pitcher of Prince George B.C. and his loving daughter Jeanette and her husband Ted Brandt of Huntsville. A much loved grampa of Rachelle and Kolter Hammond, James and Ryan Pitcher, all of Prince George, B.C.
Son of the late Alonzo and Beatrice Hammond of Baysville. Predeceased by brothers Don and Darwin and sister-in-law Barb (Don’s wife).
Beloved brother of Ron and his wife Marg of Huntsville, Earl and his wife Vicky of Bracebridge, Lois and her husband Gary Nichols of Orillia, Alva and her husband Bill McGuire of Barrie, Iris Brittain and her partner Peter Farrah of Dorset, Ruth and her husband Jim Gilbert of Elmvale, Glen and his wife Brenda of Port Sydney, Gloria and her husband Tim Wash of Baysville, Darlene and her husband Morris Bryant of Baysville, David and his partner Lori Davidson of Bracebridge.
Beloved brother-in-law of Mike and his wife Carol (Oke) of Huntsville. Beloved sister-in-law Dianne Allen of Victoria Harbour. Loved by 51 nieces and nephews, 83 great-nieces and nephews and 12 great-great-nieces and nephews. He will be missed more than words can say by all of us.
A celebration of Emery’s life will take place in the spring at the United Church in Baysville.
