The Huntsville Hurricanes Major Atom Boys travelled to Lindsay to play two basketball games against Peterborough on Feb. 10.
Undermanned with three regular players out of 10 missing the game, the Hurricanes came out strong in the first game and trailed at the half by only four points.
The score seesawed back and forth until the last minute, when Peterborough pulled out a close win, 24-22. Cedrik Ross, Jared Stachiw and Eli Borrowman all scored for Huntsville.
In the second game, the Hurricanes had their best half of the year and led 15-8 with exceptional help on defense and by limiting their turnovers when on offence.
Peterborough tightened up the defense and went on a 14-0 run to lead by as many as seven in the last three minutes.
Huntsville closed to three but the Canes could get no closer in a 26-22 loss. Ryan Rea, Jordan Connelly, Borrowman and Ross all scored for the Hurricanes.
Isiah Simonett and Takiah Ebbs-Picken had their best games of the year, playing fantastic help defense and looking to be offensive threats on every possession.
The Hurricanes will play next in a four-team tournament next Sunday at Base Borden.
