If you were to walk through the doors of Me & Mr. Jones imported fashion boutique in order to speak with the latter namesake, you would be in for a bit of wait. Make that a long wait.
You see, there is no Mr. Jones, only me… or make that Christine Simpson.
The owner of one of the newest business along King William Street explains there is no Mr. Jones as a partner, backer or anyone of the sort.
“Actually my mom came up with the name,” she said pointing to a woman who was helping assort some clothing in the back of the store.
“I think it is very chic and Mr. Jones could be anyone,” Linda Simpson said without missing a beat. “It is kind of a fun name.”
The name may be as unique as the clothing that is found inside the doors of 36 King William Street.
The shop is bright, warm and relaxing with attractive displays of clothing, accessories and footwear for shoppers to browse through.
“I have imported designer names and I bring in five of each style and I don’t bring any more in because no one will have the same thing. I look for more quality than quantity,” explained Simpson.
The store has been open for about three weeks now and Simpson said that she is happy how her dream has turned out.
“I have had great response so far. All the girls who have come in are very excited. This is something I wanted to do for about three years now. Originally I just wanted to do shoes but I thought that might be kind of tough to sell here. I thought that there was nowhere in Huntsville for girls to find these brands of clothing unless they went to Barrie or Toronto.”
Simpson’s store gives the shopper the boutique-style feeling with full mirrors in which to view their selections while friends and family watch seated comfortably in cozy surroundings.
“I wanted something small. I found most of what I looked at downtown a little too big for that boutique-style feeling,” she said.
