MARY'S LITTLE LAMB: Eight-year-old Madison Dalgleish is excited to be singing on Mary Lambert's next CD. The youngster will be recording on Feb. 7.
Eight-year-old Madison Dalgleish of Utterson is one excited young lady these days.

On Feb. 7 at 3:30 p.m. she will be in a recording studio for the very first time to add her voice to a song on Mary Lambert’s new CD.

The Grade 3 student at Riverside Public School isn’t too sure what to expect from her singing debut, only that “it’s going to be fun.”

Madison has met Mary Lambert before. Her mother knows her personally and they, along with Madison’s three siblings, have attended several of the Jam Sandwich shows. Lambert was Peanut Butter in the duo act, prior to going solo.

Madison also went to the launch party of Lambert’s CD titled Pajama Party, which was held at the Gravenhurst Opera House. Madison was one of several children invited on stage to sing, but never thought it would lead to something as exciting as recording with the children’s entertainer.

Last October, Lambert put out a call to youngsters across Ontario asking if they would like to audition to record some small speaking parts on her new CD.

“A friend of mine received Mary’s e-mail and she passed it on to me,” said Madison’s mother Debbie.

For the audition Madison had to sing three songs, Glub, Glub Glub, Baa Baa and Oh, Oh, Someone Tugged on the Plug, which she recorded at her home. The disc was then forwarded to Lambert.

“Then we got an e-mail back from Mary saying Madison was one of the kids chosen,” said Debbie.

Lambert, who is currently recording at Summit Sound Recording Studio, will feature sing-a-long and dance-a-long songs for young children on her new CD.

Lambert said she received many entries from across Ontario, but finally chose youngsters from Smiths Falls, Mallorytown, Athens, Harrowsmith and Kingston in addition to Madison.

A Bracebridge native, Lambert is a well-known family performer who now resides in Kingston.

She has released eight CDs, one video and one live concert DVD, which have garnered her two Juno nominations and eight awards from the USA.
