Snowmobiles collide, no injuries

On Jan. 25, at around 10:20 a.m., the Huntsville OPP responded to a snowmobile collision on Trail D near Yearley Road.

An investigation determined that the drivers of two snowmobiles met each other on the curve of the trail, both of them travelling in the centre, and struck each other. There were no injuries as a result of this collision.

The Huntsville OPP is reminding snowmobile drivers to treat the trail like a road, be aware of surroundings, be cognizant of the fact that some of the trails are narrow and take extra precautions in these areas.

Twenty-five-year-old charged with impaired

A Port Sydney man is facing impaired driving charges after an officer from the Huntsville OPP detachment conducted a traffic stop and detected alcohol on the driver’s breath.

On Jan. 26 at about 9:40 a.m., the officer stopped the driver for highway traffic act offences on Greer Road in Port Sydney.

An investigation revealed that the driver had been drinking the night before.

Matthew Shepherd, 25, was charged with having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol on his breath. He was also charged with other highway traffic act offences.

Shepherd is scheduled to appear in Huntsville court on Feb. 13 to answer to his charges.

The Huntsville OPP would like to remind the public that if you have been drinking the night before, there is still a good chance that you could be over the legal limit in the morning. If it is important that you be somewhere, have someone drive you.
