It was a pretty sloppy Saturday last weekend as the Cameron of Lochiel Pipes and Drums travelled to Haliburton to participate in the annual Highland Games there.

A special pat on the back to the drum line, who managed a truly stellar performance in spite of the adverse conditions they faced. The band travels to Orillia on July 21 as part of a combined Colours of Muskoka band, with the Bracebridge Legion Branch 161 Pipe Band, to participate in the annual Orillia Scottish Festival. This is an all-day event with solo competitions in the morning, the huge parade of the pipers and massed bands beginning at noon, and band competitions in the afternoon. If you like pipe music you’d be hard pressed to find a better day for the admission price of a $3 supporter’s button.

Every Monday is bid euchre night at the branch, beginning at 7 p.m., and everyone is welcome to participate. Last week’s winner was Jean McDonald. Sharon Panton was second and Edith Flood was third. Congratulations.

The $4 Friday lunch at the branch on July 20 will offer a choice of an egg salad sandwich or a chicken burger with fries. Serving begins at noon and the doors are open to the public.

The Saturday meat rolls continue throughout the summer, every week from 3 to 5 p.m. Please come out and join us for some fun and help support some worthy causes.

There are a stalwart few who get together each Sunday morning to keep our grounds and buildings neat and tidy, and they’d love to have you join them. Contact comrade Gord Milburn or Ed Broadbent if you can be of help.

Have a great week and see you around the branch.
