Too many times I hear of people complaining or criticizing to and about volunteers. These volunteers are in their positions because they feel passionate about the cause, be it an organized sport, fundraiser or activity. None of these can be accomplished without volunteers.
Everyone in this day and age is busy. It seems that the busier the person, the more they tend to take on and the more they are sought after to volunteer. It’s like the old saying that if you want something done ask a busy person to do it.
Then there are the people who seem to have a lot of time on their hands and they are the ones who will criticize, complain and challenge the guidelines put into place to hopefully make things run smoothly. Until a person has volunteered their time and effort they should be the last to criticize a person in a volunteer position.
There are never too many volunteers. Even if you can only offer an hour or two a month, you can potentially be of immense assistance. If there is something you want to see done or change in a volunteer organization, you should step up and offer to help.
I would personally like to thank everyone in our community who takes time to organize or assist in sports, fundraisers or other activities. It is people like you who make our community strong and a place I love to call home.
