The Ravensglen subdivision in Huntsville will be getting connected to municipal sewers after the district received a “strong mandate” to go ahead, said district commissioner of engineering and public works Tony White.
At the last Huntsville public works meeting on April 24, White told the town that of the 80 properties that had been surveyed on whether or not they wanted the services installed, 40 had responded they did, 20 had responded they didn’t and the rest hadn’t responded.
“That’s a strong mandate to move ahead,” White told the town committee.
He told the Forester that a report will go to the next district public works committee meeting on May 21 recommending that the project move forward.
If approved, engineering work and approvals, including some required from the Ministry of Transportation, would be done this year, with construction hopefully starting in 2009.
The issue of installing the services in the subdivision has been discussed for about a year at the town’s public works committee, as road work is needed in the area.
The town had told the district that it wanted to align the two projects so that newly-reconstructed roads were not being torn up at a later date to install sewers.
The project will include properties on Ravenscliffe Road, Ravensglen Crescent, Ravensglen Drive, Ravensglen Court, William Street and Marsh Road East.
