Huntsville Forester
SPECIAL SERVICE

Photo

This 2008 photograph shows Muskoka Heritage Place employee Sara White making electronic copies from family pictures provided by the Shaw family. The images include  Mrs. C.O. Shaw on her wedding day, and also later in her life. The Shaw family has also donated the wedding dress pictured above.

Images accepted for this service are scanned and an electronic copy kept on file in the archives. The process does not harm the original, which is returned to the donor. The duplication of images creates a copy and stores the historic information safely for future researchers, while allowing families to keep their cherished mementos.

C.O. Shaw was the Huntsville visionary who started the Anglo-Canadian Leather Company (the Tannery), the Anglo-Canadian Leather Company Band, the Huntsville and Lake of Bays Navigation Company (steam ships and Portage Flyer railway) and Bigwin Island resort.

All local family stories, no matter how humble, are special to the big picture we protect. To have images considered for this service, email Sara at museum@muskokaheritageplace.org or call 705-789-7576, ex. 3215.
