Shattered bottles don’t belong on sidewalk
May 08, 2008

I wish people would care about their neighbourhood.

I am writing this letter because I’m upset that people are drinking and leaving their bottles shattered on the sidewalk.

I was riding my bike home from Irene Street Park and heard a pop. I looked down and saw bits of broken glass with a beer bottle cap. I laid my bike down on the sidewalk, felt my tire and squeezed it. It was completely flat. I got my bike home by lifting my handlebars.

I was mad! I was expecting to ride my bike to school the next day. That’s really unfortunate. I would never break a bottle in my neighbourhood because I’m not that kind of person.

If it was a car tire that broke, then it would have been an accident.

I wish people would care about safety, the environment and that they would recycle.
