Huntsville Forester
Applications open for scholarship
May 08, 2008

Students who are planning on pursuing a post-secondary education in film, animation, television, theatre art production or digital media studies, are being encouraged to apply for a Reel Alternatives Huntsville scholarship.

The scholarship criteria also includes those who are currently enrolled in a similar post-secondary program.

The not-for-profit film group, formed in 1998, is inviting applications from qualified candidates to receive financial support to assist them in meeting their educational and creative goals.

A second area of focus is to provide financial support to individuals or groups who are working on film or video-related projects that would result in a direct benefit to a large group of people.

If you have an initiative that will create or enhance the public’s awareness, education, or appreciation of the film-related arts, you are eligible to submit an application. This could include work created strictly for entertainment purposes, as educational tools, or for entry into various film festivals or related competitions.

In the past, Reel Alternatives has supported a number of students who have gone on to be educated and eventually work in the film industry.

Scholarship applications are available at the Huntsville High School guidance office. Applications should be in written form and include a specific request for funds, a rationale for the use of the funds, and a breakdown of the anticipated expenses.

Applicants must be residents of the Huntsville/Lake of Bays or Almaguin areas.

Scholarship applications and other completed funding requests should be forwarded to Reel Alternatives, Box 5465 Huntsville, P1H 2K8. Deadline for submissions is June 6.
