The circulation of counterfeit currency in Muskoka is continuing, according to a report from Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police.
Police are investigating two more incidents of counterfeit money being circulated in Gravenhurst. One incident was reported to police by a retailer and the second incident was reported by a bank that accepted a deposit on behalf of a retailer.
In both occurrences, the suspect bill was a Canadian $100 bill bearing the serial number BKH2587453. Police were already investigating an incident that occurred on April 15. At that time, a male suspect was allegedly successful in passing a U.S. $50 counterfeit bill at a Tim Hortons franchise in Bracebridge. The unknown suspect was unsuccessful in passing a second American bill at the Tim Hortons franchise in Gravenhurst. That bill had a serial number of ID16335952A.
Police are gathering information about those attempting to pass these bills including physical description, clothing, vehicles and licence plates.
