The Lake of Bays fire and water rescue committee and the volunteer firefighters invite everyone to see the new fireboat.
It will be on display on Saturday, May 17 at the Dwight Shopping Plaza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tour the fireboat, see the equipment display, meet the firefighters and enjoy a barbecue lunch.
On Sunday, May 18 a fundraising brunch will be held at Port Cunnington Lodge from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $23.95 for adults and $12 for children. Reservations are required. Call the lodge at 635-2505. Proceeds from this brunch go toward on-board equipment for the fireboat.
There will be a spaghetti dinner at the fellowship hall of Pioneer Memorial United Church on Wednesday, May 21 beginning at 5 p.m. The cost is $10 per person and tickets can be obtained from the McDonalds at 635-2032. This dinner is sponsored by Noah’s Larks (singing group). Everyone is welcome.
The next meeting of the book club will be at the library on Tuesday, May 20 beginning at 1:30 p.m. The book to be discussed is All That Matters by Wayson Choy. Everyone is welcome at the book club.
We would like to thank Debbie Bradley for both her informative workshops on using a digital camera and downloading the pictures into our computers. I just hope I can remember enough to actually do it right.
Congratulations to the Boothby girls, Wendy, Kim, Jennifer and Sonya, for a very successful fundraising dance for the Canadian Cancer Society at the community centre. They would like to thank everyone who attended and gave their support.
Many thanks to the members of the Dwight Lions Club who cleaned up the litter on both sides of Hwys. 60 and 35 that go through town, for a total of 15 kilometres. Let’s try to keep it clean.
