I enjoyed the article on the found treasure in the Goulden bathroom. My mother also found such a treasure renovating a home years ago and passed it on to me.
It was a copy of The Forester, dated Friday, Aug. 10, 1894, issue 38 published by F.W. Clearwater. The cost was $1 per annum if paid up front.
There is advertising for the Burk House in Burk’s Falls lodging at $1.50 to $2 per day.
Also the health revolution was alive and well back then. There is advertising for Scotts Emulsion stating, “Watch your weight. This cream of cod liver oil will give your system strength and restore healthy weight,” and selling for 50 cents.
There are more interesting facts from near and far. I have the paper framed on the wall in my home.
The link to our past is very special and deserves to be preserved.
