The Huntsville Novice Rep Otters, sponsored by Clements Aluminum and Siding, had their season opener two weekends ago in Haliburton.
Although most of the game was spent in the Haliburton end, the Otters just were on the wrong end of some unlucky puck bounces. The score was not indicative of which team had control of the game as Huntsville lost 6-2.
Ethan Murdy got the Otters on the scoreboard for the only two goals the Otters scored with an assist from Ty Collins for one of the goals. The defence, consisting of Josh Degazio, Christopher Locke, Ashley Ferrante, Collins and Jason Knox, played great and held tough on the blueline most of the game. The forwards and centres, made up of Cole Clarke, Cole Earl, Nick Lavigne, Andrew Markham and Ethan Murdy, dug in hard, but the team couldn’t produce enough scoring chances to keep up with the Haliburton team. Netminders for the game were Brett Handsor and Ross Johnson. Both played excellent and stopped many of Haliburton’s shots on net.
