The Lake of Bays fire boat  committee has had a successful fundraising campaign this past summer and has surpassed the $100,000 mark of their goal.

A fire and rescue boat has been designed by the fire department and approved by the Lake of Bays fire boat committee and the township’s fire advisory committee. Funds are available to make the purchase at this time.

The fire boat will be ready for use on Lake of Bays in the spring of 2008. Funds are still required to equip and berth the boat.

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the Lake of Bays fire boat committee will be attending the council of Lake of Bays to seek their approval to accept the fire boat.

The generous businesses and individuals of Huntsville and Lake of Bays are sincerely thanked for their support of the volunteer firefighters.

They are providing them with a valuable tool to preserve our property and natural heritage and save lives.
