Showtime for Muskoka Music Men
Aug 01, 2007
Following a sold-out show last year, the Muskoka Music Men are returning to the Algonquin Theatre on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 8 p.m.
This year’s show is titled It’s Showtime.
The 26-voice barbershopper chorus will be joined by guest chorus the Toronto Northern Lights.
This group of talented singers have represented the Ontario district at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Chorus Championship each year since their formation in 1998, and consistantly place near the top at international competitions, including five silver medals in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Their expansive repertoire ranges from barbershop to Broadway, vocal jazz to doo-wop, and from Gershwin to the Beatles.
Although Toronto is their home base, the chorus draws members from a large area, with men willing to travel 200 miles (in all seasons) for rehearsals, just to be part of the excitement.
Tickets for It’s Showtime are $20 for adults and $15 for students. To order, please contact the Algonquin Theatre box office at 789-4975, visit the box office on Main Street, or online at www.algonquintheatre.ca.
The Muskoka Music Men meet on Monday evenings for rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints’ Sutherland Hall.
Visitors are always welcome.
